The Best Affordable Storage for Cannabis

Mason Jars! Since 1858, mason jars have been popular with cooks, farmers, preppers, and, of course, our own community. With all the storage options out there, and new ones popping up every day, we thought we'd take a look at the OG of storage jars for a minute, and give it its just respect.

You probably already know, but 55%-62% relative humidity is the ideal level to store Cannabis.

  • Do use an airtight mason jar and add 2-way humidity packets
  • Do make sure that you use a hygrometer and keep the RH between 55-62%
  • Do use an airtight UV protected container or CVault for longer term storage

  • Don't keep your weed in sandwich bags. Static electricity from the bag can pull off the trichomes which contain the cannabinoids
  • Don't keep your weed in tin cans. Tin cans can let in too much oxygen which degrades the THC over time. Without a humidity packet, your buds will also dry out quickly.
  • Don't put your weed in the freezer. This may seem like a no-brainer but you'd be surprised.
  • Don't add fruit to your storage container as a cheaper alternative to 2-way humidity packs. This will create a very high RH level and mold will grow on your bud.

Although there are many types of storage containers for Cannabis that seem to be popping up every day, the OG is definitely the mason jar and that is for a very good reason. It can keep your weed at a fairly consistent temperature when kept in a dark place with the use of humidity packs. It's by far the most versatile and affordable way to scale up and down as well.
